An inmate in Florida’s Miami-Dade County, Darren Rainey, was locked inside a shower and burned to death while other inmates heard him desperately crying out for help. Inspectors have ruled that the death was an accident, but some are questioning whether or not this is just a cover-up.

As for the video camera in the shower area, the inspector general’s report noted that it malfunctioned right after Clarke put Rainey in the shower.

United States Hypocrisy 
Sick, sick, sick. How can humans treat another human like that?
It seems like this is what happens when society puts a label on someone like “criminal” or “felon”. It strips their humanity away in the eyes of many people and therefore it becomes a necessity to inflict endless punishment on them for being a so-called “criminal”.
Let’s suppose for a second that law enforcers and makers really did actually care about someone doing harm to themselves through use of cocaine (we know that’s bullshit but let’s pretend they cared for the sake of argument.) So what’s the best way to show how much you care about him? Throwing him in prison and burning him to death?!
The logic of the U.S. “justice” system is absolutely insane.

There are countries where, when a person is caught committing a crime, they mar them in some fashion so that they are recognized as a thief or whatever. The Scarlet Letter comes to mind. However, America will say it does not have Sharia law.
LMAO. I know right?! And while no country is perfect, I can say without any reservation that America is the #1 most hypocritical nation in the world! By far. I mean, our slogan even says “freedom” or ” with liberty and justice for all”. What complete and utter bullshit.
Yeah — along with paying your debt to society. But look at employers now who conduct background checks and refuse to hire anyone who has been arrested at anytime as an adult for any position. Then they look down on the homeless and repeat defenders.
Exactly. The whole “paying one’s debt to society” is such a farce, especially when you consider so many of the people caught up in the prison system are there precisely because they aren’t wealthy and were born poor. So how much “debt” can they really “owe society” in the first place ?
Apparently the mentally ill in the U.S. are not given help, but instead incarcerated, tortured and killed.
Exactly. I was watching a news report the other day (unfortunately I don’t remember where) that said that 4 out of 5 mentally ill inmates in the U.S. are in prisons instead of mental homes. (Not that I think either one of these are run in a humane way in this country.)

I know what you mean. Sometimes I hesitate to “like” such a horrifying story such as this one. But the way I look at it is I’m “liking” the fact that someone is re-posting it instead of the “liking” the event itself.

Indeed. The prison system, and in fact the entire economic system in America, needs to be not just reorganized.. but revolutionized. Our entire nation is built to help the most wealthy stay wealthy at the expense of the poor. And as far as our “justice” system goes, it isn’t even capable of deciding who is “innocent” and who is “guilty”, rendering those words completely meaningless. Thank you for stopping by!
