George Zimmerman Has Been Making a Killing (Literally) From the Death of Trayvon Martin

Despite continually breaking the law time and time again since being acquitted of murdering Trayvon Martin back in July, it seems as though nothing can ever be enough to force degenerate scumbag George Zimmerman to see the inside of a prison cell. The severity of the charges he’s faced in the past would, in most cases, result in one being labeled a felon for life. But with George Zimmerman it’s a different story. He has a documented history of beating up women that goes all the way back to 2005 and continues to the present, as does his incessant need to ignore traffic signs when driving on the road. In 2005 he was even charged with “battery of a law enforcement officer” and “resisting arrest with violence”, both of which are third-degree felonies. Had he had the same color skin as Trayvon Martin, it’s doubtful he would have been alive the next day after making the assault, let alone have all the charges nearly expunged. Yet not only does he continue to get a free pass for all of his wrongdoing, but he’s getting rich in the process. Thanks to the country’s right-wing ideologues, who’ve propped him up as some sort of martyr for their cause, he’s now even being touted as a “celebrity” of sorts.

It’s no secret that the past few months have seen Zimmerman’s stock on the rise, what with all the “artwork” he’s been creating and all. His supposed “works of art” – which in actuality are nothing more than photographs from the Associated Press that he traced over and filled in with tacky colors – have been auctioned off one after the other to the dumbest, I mean highest bidder. The latest masterpiece in his collection sold at a total of $100,000. It makes you wonder just how rich his clients must be if they can just shelve out one-hundred grand on a worthless piece of crap like it’s nothing. Then again, it’s not as if it’s his paintings they’re really interested in as much as it is supporting what it is George Zimmerman the man symbolizes. And it’s for that reason, and that reason alone, that “Celebrity Boxing promoter” Damon Feldman thought it’d be okay to desecrate the memory of Trayvon Martin on the 19th anniversary of the slain teenager’s birth by using it as an occasion to issue an official statement to the press confirming plans for George Zimmerman and rapper DMX to face off in a public event billed as a “Celebrity Boxing Match”. According to the statement made by this shameless opportunist, “It has been all over the media that DMX wants George, and George who has been training has accepted and will do the match. The match will be one of the Biggest Celebrity Boxing matches of all time.” The amount of enthusiasm Feldman displayed for this demonstrates that he will let nothing stand in the way of an opportunity for him to make a quick buck. When asked to comment, a representative for DMX replied that the rapper “will release an official statement if and when an agreement is made.”

Although Damon Feldman rather transparently claimed that he and “George” were “not looking at it as a race thing”, the racial undertones to organizing such a fight were obvious from the get-g0. His prior assertion that the men “haven’t discussed purple, yellow, white, black” was nothing but mere lip service. (Besides, there is no such thing as a “purple” race.) In fact it was none other than Feldman himself who, after saying it was George Zimmerman who first pitched him the idea for the match in the first place, told reporters that Zimmerman really wanted to fight Hip Hip mogul Kanye West. His reasoning was that “the rapper has a history of attacking ‘defenseless people.‘” That’s really something coming from a man whose only claim to fame is having followed, harassed, shot and murdered an unarmed defenseless teenager. But I digress.

Compton MC the Game had the gossip sites on stand-by last week when he let it be known he’d like to see Zimmerman get his ass handed to him, and that furthermore he’d like to be the one to hand it to him. His comments were followed up a few days later by those of DMX in which he stated he’d like to pulverize Trayvon’s Martin’s killer on behalf of “every Black person who has ever been done wrong in the system”, which is certainly commendable. The same cannot be said of George Zimmerman’s motives. It should be quite obvious by now that Zimmerman will basically jump at any chance he sees in which he thinks he can potentially hurt a Black person. That truth in my view more than justifies wanting to see DMX “beat the living fuck out of [Zimmerman]” before “whip[ping] my dick out and piss[ing] on him.” After all, as DMX says, “Zimmerman is a piece of shit and that’s what he needs to drink.” On the other hand, there is a sense that this would unfortunately be playing into Zimmerman’s hands, growing his already large fortune and providing extra materiel for the book deal he will undoubtedly be offered in the near-future.

People were quick to organize against what they saw as just the latest in a long line of publicity stunts to capitalize on the death of Trayvon Martin. A woman by the name of Janet Dickerson, who felt the planning of the “Celebrity Boxing Match” was “a complete demonstration of disrespect to Trayvon’s parents [and] to Trayvon himself“, decided to take action by launching an online petition at Change.org to convince Feldman to cancel the event. Soon the petition had over 100,000 signatures, as pressure continued to mount against Damon Feldman on his Twitter page. First he had this to say:

When his growing number of critics didn’t heed his call to “mind your own business”, he quickly and rather instinctively reverted to use of the “colorblind” card. In response to well-deserved criticisms from twitter users April, Trigmund Freud, and Miss Mary, he wrote:

And finally:

As of the afternoon of Saturday, February 8th, it appears that Mr. Feldman has had a change of mind about sponsoring this event. The immense backlash following his previous announcement seems to have taken its toll on his conscience, and he is reported to have remarked that there is “more to life than money” before cancelling the event. If so, it turns out he may in fact be right about something, for once!

  1. I’m glad the boxing match is not going to happen…or not going to be sponsored (for now anyway). I think Zimmerman felt like us BLACK people wouldn’t see a problem with it, he probably saw it as a way to level the playing field. Thus proving the problem in America that still exists. A life for a life, or a blow for a blow isn’t justice. The judicial system needs to change. Just like the Jordan Davis case. The fact that these type of men feel as if it’s okay to shoot first and ask questions later and then get away with it because of the legal system is the problem. Sure we all want Zimmerman’s ass kicked, but what does that really do?

    Good post!

Just a lil of the TRUTH…

    1. Thanks for the thoughtful comment! You’re so right. It’s the “justice” system that needs to change, because when it refuses to hold these white men accountable for crimes against Black people, it sends a direct signal to vigilantes as well as police officers that it’s okay to do what they do because the courts have their back. The inequities so prevalent in this society are one of the largest enablers of violence across this nation.
